On 15 October 2026, designers and design teams from around the world came together in Singapore for the award ceremony of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2026. For the winners behind the entries from 56 countries, it marked the culmination of a journey that began with an idea, and a rare moment to celebrate that idea alongside the people and minds shaping the future of design.
At the Capitol Theatre, design concepts moved from spark to recognition.

Designers from around the world gather in Singapore
Bringing designers and teams from around the world together in Singapore is no small undertaking. For one evening, the people behind the year’s most outstanding design concepts came together in one place. Winners from different countries, disciplines and perspectives shared the same stage, walked the same red carpet and saw their work brought together in the same exhibition. Ideas that began in different parts of the world could, for the first time, be experienced side by side.
“Long before a product is manufactured, before a brand finds its voice or a communication strategy reaches its audience, there is a moment of possibility,” says Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot. “A question is asked. An assumption is challenged. A new perspective emerges.”

“Yet the essence of the journey remains unchanged,” says Mr Ken Koo, Asia President of Red Dot. “Today, while the process is undoubtedly faster and simpler, it is not necessarily easier. Belief, perseverance and commitment cannot be replaced by technology.”

As the winners were announced, designers stepped onto the red carpet runway before taking to the main stage. Concepts that once existed only as possibilities became tangible moments of recognition. The ceremony celebrated both professional designers and the next generation of talent recognised through the Red Dot: Next Gen Award, bringing them together on the same stage. Professor Dr. Peter Zec presented the trophies to the professionals, while Jova Zec, Vice President of Red Dot, honoured the winners of the Red Dot: Next Gen Award.
The highest distinctions
Rising to the top of this year’s Red Dot: Next Gen Award is Bloomy, developed by Dalian Minzu University and Beijing City University in China. Presented by Professor Dr. Peter Zec on stage, the Red Dot: Peter Zec Prize includes a cash prize of 10,000 Singapore dollars. The honour marks an encouraging milestone for the young designers and celebrates the promise of the next generation of design talent.

Before the Red Dot: Luminary 2026 was revealed, the audience turned its attention to the voices behind this year’s exceptional nominated projects. Through a specially produced video preview of the 5 nominees, the teams shared a closer look into their ideas, intentions and design thinking, giving the audience a glimpse into the minds behind the work.
The final spotlight then turned to Walk Me by Toyota Motor Corporation, which was named the winner of the Red Dot: Luminary 2026 for its ability to go beyond transportation and act as a partner in daily life, supporting independence, dignity, and emotional connection. The grand finale was marked by a special moment on stage, where Red Dot founder, Professor Dr. Peter Zec, presented the Red Dot: Luminary trophy to Mr Takashi Nishimura and Ms Misako Kawata.

Mr Nishimura remarked: “Having Walk Me recognised outside Toyota gives the team real confidence. It also leaves us with a responsibility: not to let the idea end as a concept.”
Designers’ Night at Marina Bay
The evening began beneath the lights of the theatre, but the celebration eventually continued towards Marina Bay. Following the award ceremony, winners and guests gathered at the Red Dot Design Museum Singapore for the Designers' Night. The museum became the second setting of the evening: a place to see the winning concepts together for the first time at the Winners' Exhibition, and meet fellow winners.
